Chasing Down The Latest NBA News
Dominique Jones only played in 18 games this season for the Dallas Mavericks and a stress fracture on his right foot kept him out of action for good after February 9th. Jones did not get a chance to showcase his abilities as a rookie but Dallas clearly likes his promise – they bought his rights from the Memphis Grizzlies after they drafted him with the 25th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.
Much like NBA Champion Ian Mahinmi, the future seems bright for Jones and that’s where he’ll make his impact on his NBA team. A combination of injuries and a stacked backcourt prevented Jones from getting minutes as a rookie but the scoring instincts that he displayed in college will almost certainly earn him some minutes at some point in the future.
Whether or not those minutes will come with the Mavs is yet to be seen but there’s chance that Rick Carlisle calls on him consistently next seasons should J.J. Barea find himself a new home during the off-season. Of course, Roddy B is still in Big D and he figures to be higher on the food chain when it comes to playing time next season.
Either way, the future is bright for Jones no matter where he ends up playing basketball and even though the 22-year old has barely gotten a chance to get his career off the ground, remember: Dominque Jones is an NBA Champion.
